Chicago College of Veterinary Medicine connects with professionals at the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association Convention
Representing the proposed Chicago College of Veterinary Medicine, Mark Joseph Acierno, M.B.A., D.V.M., DACVIM, Associate Dean, and Coretta C. Patterson, D.V.M., DACVIM-SA, PG Cert Vet Med Ed, Dean, share information about the new college at the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association (ISVMA) Annual Convention.
Midwestern University’s proposed Chicago College of Veterinary Medicine (CCVM) made a strong first impression at the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association (ISVMA) Annual Convention, held November 7–9 in Oak Brook, Illinois.
The convention, considered the state’s premier continuing education event for veterinary professionals, drew veterinarians, certified veterinary technicians, and practice managers from across Illinois for three days of learning, networking, and camaraderie. CCVM hosted an informational booth at the event, where attendees stopped by to learn more about the University’s plans for the new veterinary college and its commitment to excellence in animal health education.
A highlight of the weekend was Veterinary Exploration Day (VED), where 57 high school students gathered to discover career paths in veterinary medicine and related fields. Many stopped by the CCVM booth, sharing their excitement about the possibility of a new veterinary college in the Chicago area, and what that could mean for their own future studies.
“We were thrilled to be part of this year’s ISVMA Convention,” said Coretta C. Patterson, D.V.M., DACVIM-SA, PG Cert Vet Med Ed, Dean of the proposed College. “The energy and enthusiasm from our colleagues across the state was inspiring. It’s clear that the veterinary community is excited to see new opportunities for education and collaboration take shape right here in Illinois.”
The ISVMA supports more than 3,000 veterinarians, veterinary students, and certified veterinary technicians across the state, providing continuing education and advocacy to strengthen the profession. CCVM’s presence at the convention marks an important step in connecting with that statewide network and raising awareness of Midwestern University’s growing commitment to veterinary medicine in the Midwest.
